REI Co-op to open new store in Jackson, Wyoming in summer 2021

Outdoor co-op’s first location in the state will offer quality outdoor gear, expertise and experiences

Nov 2, 2020

SEATTLE – REI Co-op will open its first Wyoming store in Jackson in summer 2021, bringing a wide assortment of quality outdoor gear, experiences and expertise for the region’s most popular outdoor activities. The new 15,000-square-foot store will be located at Powderhorn Mall and include a full-service bike and ski and snowboard shop for maintenance and repairs.

“Jackson is an incredible outdoor community offering year-round activities from world class skiing and snowboarding in the winter to expansive hiking, biking and camping in the summer,” said Janet Hopkins, REI regional director for the mountain district. “Jackson is the ideal place to serve our more than 41,000 lifetime members in Wyoming and the millions of people who adventure in the region every year.”

While the store in Jackson will be the co-op’s first retail location in the state, REI’s adventure travel company has offered guided multi-day hiking, kayaking and family trips in Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks for more than a decade*.

REI Jackson will also offer workshops and classes to connect people to outdoor experiences in the region. A national leader in outdoor experiences, REI helped more than 325,000 people get outside through classes, day outings and events last year.

REI is a member-owned co-op, offering top-quality gear, expertise and experiences to connect people to a life outdoors. While anyone may shop at REI, members pay a lifetime $20 membership and share in the company’s profits through an annual dividend. In addition, REI actively works with nonprofits across the country to steward and maintain local trails, parks and public lands and connect people to the outdoors. Prior to the store opening in Jackson, REI will look for ways to invest in Wyoming’s outdoor community.
