REI Co-op Reaffirms Support for Voting Rights

As we move deeper into this election year, we’re seeing a growing number of challenges to how voting rights are protected and applied. That context is why we’re speaking up now. 

At REI, we believe access to voting is fundamental to a healthy democracy. It’s how people shape the communities they live in, and how our system of government reflects the people it serves. It also influences decisions on issues that matter deeply to us at REI, including public lands, conservation, outdoor access, and the communities our members and customers depend on every day.  

We know that access hasn’t always been equal, and that when protections are weakened or changed, the impact can fall hardest on Black communities and other communities of color that have faced barriers in the past. That reality is part of why this moment matters. 

REI fundamentally rejects any efforts that weaken voting rights, diminish fair representation, or make it harder for communities to be fully heard in our democracy.  We believe a stronger, more inclusive democracy is essential to healthy communities and to a future where the outdoors remains accessible, welcoming, and protected for everyone. 

We will continue to support efforts that strengthen participation and representation, and to stand alongside advocates, allies and others working toward a democracy where everyone can participate and be represented.
