SEATTLE – REI Co-op will officially open its new location in Grand Junction, Colorado on Nov. 2 at 925 Independent Avenue. The store opened for business at the new location in February and just completed an extensive remodel. The 23,000 square-foot space is nearly double the size of the co-op’s previous location in Grand Junction and will continue to offer top quality gear, expertise and experiences, with expanded product offerings, a full-service bike shop for maintenance and repairs, and mountain bike rentals. In addition, REI Grand Junction will offer workshops to connect people to a life outdoors. A national leader in outdoor experiences, REI helped more than 375,000 people across the country get outside through classes and events last year.

“The larger space will further support the outdoor community in Grand Junction,” said Anna Ransdell, REI Grand Junction store manager. “In addition to offering a wider selection of quality outdoor gear, we’ve also added new offerings like bikes and kids’ clothing and footwear. With the expansion, we’ve also added 15 additional employees to our team, who bring local knowledge and outdoor expertise.”

REI Grand Junction is currently open and will celebrate its new location in Grand Junction with public activities, events and giveaways Nov. 2-3.

  • Enjoy free food and activities: Starting at 8 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, REI Grand Junction will host a party in the parking lot with free breakfast, music and games. Vendors will also be onsite offering exclusive giveaways and demonstrations. Events end at noon each day.
  • Shop early, get rewards: The first 250 people (age 18 and up) through the door on Friday and Saturday will receive a limited-edition water bottle with a $10, $50 or $100 REI gift card inside. Doors open at 10 a.m. each day.

REI has been a part of the Grand Junction community since 2000. This year, REI has invested nearly $900,000 in the local outdoor community in Colorado and has longstanding partnerships with the Colorado Plateau Mountain Bike Trail Association and Colorado Canyons Association in Grand Junction.
