REI and Lyft partner to provide unforgettable outdoor experiences
Win campfire experiences and concert entry in Atlanta, the Bay Area, Chicago, D.C., Denver, and Raleigh-Durham

SEATTLE – REI, the nation’s largest consumer co-op, and Lyft, the fastest growing on-demand transportation service, today announced a partnership to provide outdoor experiences in six metropolitan areas across the country: Atlanta, the Bay Area, Chicago, Washington D.C., Denver, and Raleigh-Durham. Through April 15, people can visit the Lyft blog to receive a Lyft promo code for $5 off a ride to a number of popular outdoor spaces in their local communities. This code will also offer entry to win one of two prizes – access to an REI concert under the stars, curated by Sofar Sounds, or, in four markets, an REI Signature Campout.
“The average American spends 95% of their life indoors,” said Laura Swapp, director, experience marketing at REI. “Making small changes, like catching a Lyft ride to a park instead of the mall on a sunny Saturday afternoon, can result in unexpected experiences. Through our partnership with Lyft, we want to further inspire and enable people to spend more time outside.”

In each of the participating communities, Lyft users can enter the promo code into the Lyft app for discounted rides to experience the outdoors. By riding to these locations, passengers are entered to win a chance to experience an REI concert under the stars, curated by Sofar Sounds, where an intimate outdoor show with incredible artists, refreshments, and comradery in nature awaits. The 75 winners in each region will be notified after April 15, and will have the option to bring one guest. Winners will only receive the date and time of the exclusive concert, which will take place in May. If they choose to attend, Lyft will provide transportation to the surprise outdoor venue.
In Atlanta, the Bay Area, Chicago, and Raleigh-Durham, Lyft riders will also be entered to win an REI Signature Campout experience. Five winners, each with one guest, will enjoy a full REI outdoor overnight experience, along with other camp participants, within 45 minutes of their city limits. The co-op will provide the full camping experience, including food, tent lodging, and activities; each winner just has to bring their best friend.
