Outside Names REI Adventures Multisport Trip to Hall of Fame
Apr 2, 2012
REI Adventures has been selected by Outside, America’s leading multimedia active-lifestyle group, as a recipient of its first-ever Active Travel Awards. REI Adventures 14-day Machu Picchu and Galapagos Island Multisport was highlighted as one of the editors’ “all-time favorites” and earned the publications’ “Hall of Fame” award designation. The full list of award winners is published in the April issue of Outsidemagazine, and on Outsideonline.com.
“Being selected into Outsides’ “Hall of Fame” is a tremendous honor,” says Cynthia Dunbar, REI Adventures manager. “Like our Machu Picchu Galapagos multisport, all of our trips help connect people to communities across the world, and it is REI’s incredible guides and travelers who really help create life changing and unforgettable experiences.”
To select this year’s awards, Outside tapped its global network of correspondents to showcase a definitive roundup of the best new adventures, exotic retreats, beaches, local food, bars with a view, on-time airlines, gorgeous islands, and more. The awards reflect more than just a collection of unforgettable trips—but a road map to life-changing experiences. The issue also highlights a list of the best online travel tools, as well a roundup of Outside’s all-time favorite “Hall of Fame” destinations.
Outside has long been one of the world's most trusted advisors for active and adventurous travelers," says Outside editor Christopher Keyes. "This year we've bottled up 35 years of collective wisdom to select our first set of Active Travel Awards, an annual feature that honors the best trips, hotels, lodges, luggage, islands, and new destinations that will be an invaluable travel resource for years to come
In celebration, Outside has launched the “What Trip Are You?” Facebook promotion so travelers can take a travel quiz to determine what type of vacation best suits their adventure style from a list of categories. Five grand prize winners (one per category) will get the chance to go on their dream adventure provided by Outside’s travel partners including REI’s Hall of Fame Machu Picchu and Galapagos multisport adventure that will take guests from the mist-filled cloud forests of the Andes, to the clear waters of the Galapagos, in one epic trip.
