Join us in-store for a screening of Making a Mini-Forest, a documentary exploring the global movement to plant dense, native “mini-forests” in urban spaces using the Miyawaki Method. Narrated by Mini-Forest Revolution author Hannah Lewis, the film travels across France, Belgium, Germany, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands to show how communities are reclaiming overlooked spaces and turning them into thriving habitat for people, birds, and pollinators. Through real-world stories, you’ll see the hands-on process behind each mini-forest—from early planning and planting to the care required to help them take root—while tracing the method’s origins in Japan. The result is an inspiring look at how local action, shared knowledge, and care for place can help regreen cities and strengthen community connections. The screening will be followed by a live Q&A with the film’s director. About our speaker: Angelina Lee is a Los Angeles–based environmental filmmaker and a 2021 Obama Fellow at Occidental College’s Barack Obama Scholars Program. Her work explores practical climate solutions—from regenerative agriculture to urban biodiversity—and Making a Mini-Forest has screened internationally, including premiering at the UN Convention to Combat Desertification’s COP16.
