From sunrise light glowing on maroon-hued summits to quiet forests alive with wildlife, this route captures the essence of high-alpine travel in every step. You’ll gain practical insights on route planning, pacing, elevation considerations, and what it takes to move confidently through demanding terrain. About our speaker: Heyward Douglass is a lifelong backpacker and conservation leader who has explored trails across the country, including completing the Appalachian Trail. A longtime board member and chairman of the Foothills Trail Conservancy, he brings deep experience, passion, and storytelling to every adventure he shares.
