Join us for an engaging, real-world introduction to Leave No Trace that will help you enjoy the outdoors while protecting the places you love. Through interactive activities, guided discussion, and practical scenarios, you'll explore the Leave No Trace Seven Principles and learn simple, approachable ways to apply them in everyday outdoor adventures. Whether you're visiting a local park, heading out on a day hike, camping for the weekend, or planning a bucket-list trip, you'll gain practical skills for planning ahead, navigating responsibly, disposing of waste properly, respecting wildlife, and sharing outdoor spaces thoughtfully with others. You'll also discover how small choices can have a lasting impact on the health of natural areas and the experiences of fellow adventurers. No prior experience is needed. Whether you're just beginning your outdoor journey or looking to strengthen your stewardship skills, you'll leave with greater confidence, a deeper connection to the outdoors, and actionable tools to help protect the places that make adventure possible.
Notes
Myra Romano is the Trail Steward Program Coordinator for the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference, where she leads programs focused on outdoor education, responsible recreation, and natural resource stewardship. Myra is a certified Leave No Trace Level 2 Instructor, a National Association for Interpretation (NAI) Certified Interpretive Guide, a Wilderness First Responder, and a New York State DEC licensed Hiking and Camping Guide. She is passionate about helping people enjoy the outdoors responsibly while protecting the places they love. Zac Cole is the Long-Distance Trails Program Coordinator, and a Leave No Trace Level 2 Instructor. Zac grew up in northern Italy with plenty of opportunity to camp and hike in the Alps. These experiences and his interest in environmental conservation set him on the path to a career advocating for the natural environments we all love to recreate in. Zac devotes his free time to exploring trails, climbing, winter sports, and cycling.
