Join Denise Sears for a captivating look at what it’s really like to live and work in some of the nation’s most remarkable national parks, forests, historical sites and protected landscapes through humorous encounters, unexpected challenges and inspiring moments. Drawing from six years of volunteer service across Utah, Arizona, California, Oregon, Texas, Florida and Michigan, Denise shares firsthand adventures from the front lines of public land stewardship. Hear how Denise dodged rattlesnakes, escorted bears away from visitors, enjoyed nightly views of the Milky Way, avoided dangerous desert monsoons, fired historic muskets at national historic sites, scared condors from roadways and endured 100-degree temperatures in the high desert red rock country of the American Southwest, all amongst dramatic canyons and sandstone landscapes to rugged coastlines, pristine lakeshores and more. About our speaker: Denise Sears has spent six months of each of the past six years volunteering at national parks, national forests, Bureau of Land Management sites, national historical sites and national lakeshores across the United States. Her experiences working in diverse landscapes and historic locations have given her a unique perspective on conservation, outdoor recreation and life in some of America's most extraordinary places.
