This session offers a powerful introduction to understanding where and why avalanches occur, and how to recognize and manage risk when you're out in the mountains. You'll learn how to access and interpret local avalanche bulletins and weather reports, identify key signs of avalanche danger, and apply simple, effective strategies to help avoid hazardous terrain. Whether you're a seasoned adventurer or just starting to explore the backcountry, this session will equip you with the knowledge and confidence to make safer decisions and enjoy winter travel with greater awareness.

Presented by Utah Avalanche Center At the Utah Avalanche Center, our mission is to keep people on top of The Greatest Snow on EarthⓇ by providing avalanche forecasting, education, and awareness across the state of Utah. To help achieve this goal, we deliver nearly a hundred Know Before You Go (KBYG) avalanche awareness presentations across the state every year to teach people the fundamentals of avalanche safety. We believe hosting a KBYG presentation for your community will help promote avalanche safety while also bringing people together in your space, and we would love to partner with you this season.
