Join Hikerbabes for a session that combines practical hiking skills with the grounding benefits of mindful time outdoors. Leslie will cover the Ten Essentials she brings on every hike and how gear needs shift with the season and terrain. Diana, a licensed clinical social worker and nature-based practitioner, will share how spending time on the trail supports mental health, emotional resilience, and overall well-being. Through personal stories and simple techniques, she will highlight how mindful movement can reduce stress and help hikers feel more centered. Participants will also be guided through an easy mindfulness exercise that can be used on any hike. Hikerbabes is a community of women who share a passion for the outdoors and offer a supportive space to learn, connect, and explore. Their free-to-join chapters welcome women of all experience levels who want to build confidence, skills, and community on the trail.

Discussion: Ten Essentials for Hiking and Mindful Trails: How Nature Supports Mental Health & Emotional Well-Being Description: In this session, Leslie will talk about what she carries at all times while hiking and how needs can change with each season or the type of hike you are preparing for. Diana explores how spending time outdoors supports mental health, emotional resilience, and overall well-being. Through stories from her own hiking journey and her work as a therapist, she highlights the grounding benefits of nature and how mindful movement on the trail can calm the mind, reduce stress, and strengthen inner stability. Participants will also be guided through a simple mindfulness exercise that can be practiced on any hike. Bio: Diana Lapp, LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker), is a therapist, hiker, and nature-based practitioner who supports adults in strengthening mental and emotional resilience through mindfulness and time outdoors. She has completed Wilderness First Aid and CPR/AED training and is trained in forest therapy, blending safety, presence, and a deep belief in the healing power of nature. Diana weaves together practical mental health tools with immersive outdoor experiences, leading Walk & Talk Therapy sessions, mindful hiking workshops, and community retreats that help people slow down, breathe deeper, and reconnect with themselves on the trail.
