Join Everett Mountain Rescue (EMR) for an engaging and informative presentation where they share their experiences from Search and Rescue (SAR) missions. EMR frequently encounters hikers and climbers who are unprepared for their wilderness adventures. Through proactive education, EMR aims to help Northwest hikers make better choices, enhance their outdoor experiences, improve preparedness, and increase survivability. This presentation combines real-life SAR stories with expert advice, delivering crucial safety messages on risk awareness, preparedness, what to do if lost, and assessing natural hazards in the Pacific Northwest.

Notes

Presented by Guy Mansfield, Ph.D., an experienced climber and hiker active in Search and Rescue since 2008. Guy has taught courses in Wilderness Navigation, Hiking Safety, and Search Management, and has presented at state, national, and international SAR conferences. He is a member of Everett Mountain Rescue and currently serves as a Director of the Washington State SAR Planning Unit.
