Join us for an immersive, in-store session on canoe camping that will help you confidently plan and pack for multi-day paddling adventures. You’ll learn how to build a reliable backcountry system on the water, from choosing dry storage and camp setups to dialing in food, safety, and navigation for changing river conditions. We’ll explore the unique rhythm of canoe travel, where each bend reveals new campsites, wildlife corridors, and quiet stretches far from crowded trails. Hear what it’s like to paddle iconic routes shaped by heat, current, and distance, like those found across Texas and Louisiana, where long miles and dynamic waterways reward preparation and grit. Whether your goal is a relaxed overnight on a local lake or tackling challenging downstream routes, you’ll walk away with practical tips to streamline your gear, manage weight and space, and stay comfortable from launch to take-out. About our speaker: Heather Harrison is an accomplished endurance paddler with multiple ultra-distance finishes, including ten completions of the Texas Water Safari, and a Louisiana Triple Crown winner in canoe and kayak racing. She also brings years of experience as a scoutmaster and canoe instructor at Texas State University, blending technical expertise with a passion for teaching.
