Join an engaging in-store conversation about experiencing Long Island’s most memorable birdlife, from brightly colored warblers and shorebirds passing through in spring to seabirds along the coast in summer and the dramatic fall migration of hawks and other raptors funneling across the island. Speakers will highlight how rich bird activity can be found everywhere, from protected wetlands to local parks and even your own backyard, and how slowing down to watch and listen can deepen your connection to the outdoors. You’ll also hear practical insights on binoculars and birding gear from a Nikon representative with first hand perspectives on how the right optics can help you notice more detail, behavior, and beauty every time you step outside. About our speaker: Shai Mitra is an ornithologist with nearly 50 years of experience studying birds on Long Island, throughout the Northeast, and around the world. He is an Assistant Professor of Biology at the College of Staten Island and a longtime leader in bird research, conservation, and regional record keeping, joined by a Nikon representative who will share expertise and demos of premium binoculars and optics designed for birding in the field.
