Join us for a memorable day on a picturesque gorge that's the centerpiece of two state parks on the Minnesota and Wisconsin border. Known as The Dalles of the St. Croix, this dramatic natural gorge is characterized by sheer high walls of basaltic rock rising from 50 to 250 feet above the river. Hundreds of routes, ranging from beginner-friendly to expert level, make the Gorge a fantastic area for rock climbing. Whether you are an experienced climber or are completely new to climbing, REI's expert guides will provide you with friendly and thorough instruction, as well as all the necessary technical equipment for an exciting climbing and rappelling adventure. An intimate class-size ensures each participant receives individualized attention and the opportunity to climb and rappel many times throughout the day. This tour is designed for climbers who are eager to advance their knowledge, as well as beginners looking for a new experience. Recommended for those 16 and older; those under 18 must be accompanied by a participating parent or responsible adult.

  • Dynamic Climbing Rope - At least a 60m rope.
  • Group First Aid Kit - Contents include wound care items and over the counter medications for minor injuries and illnesses
  • Standard Climbing Rack - This generally includes an assortment of wired nuts, hexex, cams, etc.
  • Static Rope - Minimum of 100 feet for anchors and fixed lines.
