Flat tires happen—on trails, roads, and everywhere in between. If you want to be ready when they do, join an REI bike expert for this hands-on workshop designed to build your confidence and skills. From start to finish, you’ll learn how to change a tire, troubleshoot common issues, and reduce the chances of a repeat flat. We’ll provide bike wheels for practice, or feel free to bring your own. Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting a little greasy and closed-toe shoes. Whether you're new to cycling or just want a refresher, this session will get you rolling again in no time.
Notes
We recommend that you bring your bike (or at least a wheel) to the workshop. It is not a problem if you can't as we will have plenty of bikes to practice on. In our experience, participants tend to get more out of the workshop when they practice on their own bike. After all, that's what you'll have if/when you get a flat tire out on the road. Additionally, since the store will not yet be open, a manager will meet you at the front door just before 8am. The store opens for business at 10am, immediately following the class, but we wanted you to have uninterrupted time with the instructor. This class is designed around standard tire/tube combinations so while we can touch on tubeless setups that is not the primary focus and is not directly demonstrated during the class. Similarly, this is not focused on ebikes with rear hub-motor drivetrains as those take additional tooling to service. If you have one of these bikes, we can demonstrate on the front wheel but not the back.
