Wilderness First Aid with NOLS and REI

Prepare for the unexpected in this hands-on introduction to wilderness medicine program taught by our partners at NOLS. If you work at wilderness camps, enjoy weekend family outdoor activities, or recreate outdoors, this is for you! During this two-day, 16-hour course you will learn the Patient Assessment System, how to provide effective first aid treatments for common outdoor injuries and illnesses, and how to make appropriate evacuation decisions. Instruction will take place in classrooms and outdoor settings regardless of weather, be prepared for any condition. Course completion results in a Wilderness First Aid certification. IMPORTANT: NOLS is requiring all students to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 on all NOLS Wilderness Medicine courses beginning November 1, 2021. Students on courses beginning between November 1 and November 11, 2021, must have received the final vaccine dose prior to arrival at their course. Students on these courses who have not completed their two-week waiting period after receiving their final dose must submit a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of the course start. Students on courses that begin on or after November 12, 2021, need to be two weeks or more past receiving the final vaccine dose prior to arrival at their course. Wilderness Medicine instructors will review student vaccination cards and/or negative COVID-19 test results at the start of the course. Please be sure to bring your vaccination card with you to your course.
