This Beginner focused mountaineering class is perfect for the first time mountaineer or someone looking to brush up on skills. Although we wont step foot on a mountain we will cover skills that will prepare you for your first adventure up one. This class is weather dependent but we will cover skills such as: ice axe use, crampon use, roped travel on 4th class terrain, placing alpine protection, hip belays, and more. We will go into great detail about how to be prepared to head out into the high country in wintery conditions (layers, gear needed, route planning and more). Come join us for a wonderful time day-dreaming of high mountain adventures and keep your fingers crossed, maybe we will even get some snow to play in.

  • Climbing Helmet

  • Group First Aid Kit - Contents include wound care items and over the counter medications for minor injuries and illnesses
  • Ice Axe
  • Mountaineering Hardware - All necessary.
  • Snow Anchors
  • Static Rope - Minimum of 100 feet for anchors and fixed lines.
  • Trekking Poles
