REI Supports the Trans Community

The trans community is facing a sustained and extraordinary attack. Just a few months into 2021, multiple state legislative sessions have already set a record for the greatest number of bills in history aimed to restrict rights for transgender people.

These efforts are not necessary reforms, but a coordinated attack on the transgender community across the country.

Today we are speaking out against efforts to restrict the rights of transgender people in solidarity with the communities, advocates, companies, and legislators working to protect the transgender community. We’ve signed on to a statement with over 80 fellow companies condemning anti-LGBTQ+ legislation.

We remain committed to ensuring that the outdoors, the co-op and society at large are accessible and welcoming to all people—including transgender, non-binary and gender non-conforming people.
