REI Co-op, UFCW, and RWDSU Issue Joint Statement on Contract Negotiations

REI Co-op and a coalition of union locals from the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) and the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU) met this week to continue discussions toward collective bargaining agreements for the 11 unionized REI stores.

After meeting for two days, the parties were unable to reach an agreement.

REI has declared bargaining impasse and is implementing the economic terms of its last, best, and final offer at the 11 certified stores. The Union denies that the parties are at impasse and has filed claims disputing the co-op’s position.

Both parties will engage in future discussions to reach an agreement and continue to work toward a mutually agreeable path forward.
