Healthy gardens begin with healthy soil—and smart seasonal timing. Join us for a two-part gardening series that explores the essentials of soil care, perennial maintenance, and how to prep your garden for success across the seasons. Whether you're a seasoned green thumb or just starting to dig in, this is your chance to learn, ask questions, and get inspired for the growing season ahead. Part 1–Fall Focus: Learn how to set your garden up for spring during the crucial autumn months. We’ll cover perennial care, organic vs. non-organic soil amendments, and why letting your soil rest over winter is key to supporting soil organisms and long-term plant health. Part 2–Spring Focus: As the growing season kicks off, dive into the science of soil and explore the differences between cool- and warm-season vegetables. Attendees will also enjoy access to a curated table of gardening handouts to take home and spark ideas for their next planting season. About Our Speaker: Toni Ghazal is a Master Gardener instructor, lecturer, and author of My Eclectic Garden, available at REI Olympia’s Local Buy section. With deep expertise and a passion for helping others cultivate thriving, resilient gardens, Toni blends science, storytelling, and hands-on advice to empower gardeners of all levels.
