Spirit of the Peaks Film Screening

Join us in honoring Native American Heritage Month with a special screening of Spirit of the Peaks, a visually stunning and emotionally resonant film that explores the intersection of Indigenous identity and outdoor culture. Centered around Hunkpapa Lakota skier Connor Ryan, the film follows his journey to find balance between his athletic passion and cultural responsibility while skiing in Ute Territory. Through breathtaking mountain footage and intimate storytelling, Spirit of the Peaks invites viewers to reflect on the spiritual connection between land, heritage, and sport. It sheds light on the history and displacement of the Ute people, the ongoing impacts of colonization, and the power of Indigenous ecological knowledge in preserving sacred landscapes and snowpack. More than a ski film, it’s a call to action for reciprocity, respect, and reimagining who belongs in the mountains. Produced by REI Co-op Studios in partnership with Wondercamp and NativesOutdoors, and co-directed by Connor Ryan, this film is a celebration of Indigenous joy, resilience, and storytelling.
