Overview
- Group size35 people
After the Civil War, there were thriving townships at Wekiwa and Rock Springs. They had their own railroad stations, post office, school, wineries and even a newspaper. By 1920, however, almost all traces of these communities had disappeared, and they were quickly forgotten. Now after more than ten years of research, the fascinating story of Wekiwa and Rock Springs can be told in pictures and actual accounts from these pioneering settlers which describe daily life back then and the incredible hardships they faced. Join us for this presentation and explore the fascinating history of Wekiwa and Rock Springs!
Notes
Presented by Don Philpott, Board Member and Former President of the Florida State Parks Foundation. While this presentation is free to attend, we encourage donations towards our REI Cooperative Action fund (recommended 5.00 per person).
