Catalina Island offers pristine beaches, secluded coves, and a network of hiking trails through unspoiled land with dramatic views of the Pacific Ocean. On this 2-day hike along the island's edge, we wind our way in and out of scenic coves looking down on azure blue waters along the west end road. It is a pleasant 7.7 mile walk out to Parson's Landing with minimal elevation gain and loss, making this an excellent first backpacking experience. Along the way, we'll share some hiking tips and offer an insight into the island's intertwined cultural and ecological histories identifying the plants below, birds above, and marine life in the coves. After lunch on the trail, we'll descend onto the beach at Parson's Landing, where we'll set up camp on the sand, refuel with a hearty dinner, and fall asleep to the sounds of crashing waves. The next morning after watching the sunrise over the ocean and a satisfying breakfast, we will retrace our route back to Two Harbors. Ferry from San Pedro is included. All meals from lunch on day one through lunch on day two are also provided.
