Which items can’t I return?
The following items cannot be returned:
- Final sale items
- All sales are final on REI Co-op Memberships, lift tickets, passes and gift cards as noted at the time of purchase.
- Damaged gear
- The REI Satisfaction Guarantee policy doesn't cover ordinary wear and tear, or damage caused by improper use or accidents.
- Unwashed or excessively dirty gear
- Items that have been used since purchase must be cleaned prior to returning. Merchandise that is not cleaned or laundered may be declined and sent back.
- Re/Supply at REI stores
- All in-store Re/Supply items are sold “AS IS” and are final sale. Any used gear purchased in stores that is mailed to the REI Returns Department will be sent back.
- Outdoor electronics must be returned within 90 days.

Some items cannot be returned via our mail-in return process, including the following:
- Hazardous materials
- Some oversize items
- Some bulk orders
- Items that were originally shipped to countries outside the United States and its territories. Learn more about international returns.
The above items can be returned at any REI store. You can also work directly with a carrier to meet any shipping conditions needed to return by mail.
