Our public lands belong to all of us.
Some members of Congress are once again trying to sell off our public lands—this time through a dangerous provision in the Senate’s budget reconciliation bill that mandate the sale of up to 3.3 million acres of public lands across the West. These lands belong to all of us, and they are vital for outdoor recreation, wildlife, and future generations.
Spanning deserts, forests, grasslands, and alpine wilderness, the 3.3 million acres targeted for selloff represent some of the most iconic and ecologically rich public lands in the American West. These landscapes are not only home to diverse wildlife and vital watersheds—they also provide millions of people with access to hiking and the freedom to explore the outdoors.
Thanks to your voices, we successfully pushed back against similar language in the House version of the bill. Now, we must urge Congress to oppose this land selloff in the final reconciliation package. Our public lands are not for sale. Let’s make sure they stay in public hands.
