Support the expansion of Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument to include Molok Luyuk.
The lands in and around Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument are sacred to their original stewards, Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation. They are calling for the protection of 13,700 acres of their traditional homelands, the Molok Luyuk (Condor Ridge) region near Sacramento, within Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument.
For recreation lovers, this expansion would provide 360 degree views of Mount Shasta and the Sierra Nevadas, and bring in additional resources to improve trails and access routes for hiking, mountain biking, off-roading and camping.
It would also safeguard vital habitat for bald eagles, golden eagles, peregrine falcons, and more than 30 species of rare plants and wildflowers. In total, the protection of Molok Luyuk will help conserve of 7% of California’s native flora and curb threats of development, lead poisoning and DDT contamination currently facing wildlife in the area.
