About Intrepid

REI and Intrepid teamed up to launch small group active adventures to REI members and customers. Starting in early January, two collections of immersive, fully-guided trips will be available – REI Exclusive and REI Recommended.

Trips in the REI Exclusive collection will only be sold by REI. REI Recommended carry the co-op’s stamp of approval and will be sold by REI and Intrepid.

The REI Cooperative Action Fund will receive 1% of the value of all completed trips booked by REI members and customers. Travelers will also have the option to make an extra contribution at checkout, which will be added to the total donation.*

Anyone can book a trip, but REI members receive a 15% discount on the REI Exclusive collection. Members who book an REI Recommended trip will receive a 20% off digital coupon for gear or apparel purchases.  

Yes, but at full price. Joining REI for a one-time fee of $30 not only unlocks the 15% discount but a lifetime of benefits that all REI members receive. Learn more at REI.com/membership.

No. The person booking must be an REI member for the 15% discount to be applied on an REI Exclusive booking, or for an REI Recommended booking to be eligible for the 20% off coupon. However, anyone can be assigned as the lead traveler.

No, the member does not have to be traveling. For example, they may book the trip as a gift for someone else.

Not for online bookings. But if travellers can call the Intrepid customer service team on + 1 888 929 8005 to validate a new membership and update their booking.

No, we’ve adjusted to minimum number of customers required for the REI Exclusives to ensure a better experience. REI Exclusives will operate with a minimum of four customers for international trips and 2 customers for domestic trips. We have also planned capacity to avoid trip cancellations wherever possible due to low numbers. In case we need to cancel a departure, customers will have the option to move to another departure or trip or to receive a full refund. The latest we will advise of a departure being cancelled will be 60 days before departure. Travelers are advised not to book any non-changeable flights until their trip is confirmed.  

Every Intrepid trip has a trip style and theme.

Intrepid has four styles of trips - Basix, Original, Comfort, and Premium – with trips in each style designed to meet travelers where they are – in skill and spirt:

• Basix: Simple stays, more free time
• Original: Balance of comfort and value
• Comfort: Upgraded lodging and amenities
• Premium: Boutique accommodations and immersive experiences

Intrepid trips also include a variety of themes to match each traveler’s pace and personality, including Walking & Trekking, Multi-Sport, Women’s Expeditions, Explorer, and Wildlife.

Travelers can review detailed trip descriptions, full itineraries and other essential trip information on REI.com/travel to assess activity level, duration, and accommodations. On each trip page you will find ‘Is this trip right for you?’ information in the Before you book you should know section of the page.

Additionally, Intrepid will operate a dedicated customer service line for REI members and customers to discuss which trip best fits their interests, abilities, and comfort level. 

Due to local regulations, Intrepid cannot make travel insurance mandatory for travelers from the United States or the European Union. However, the purchase of travel insurance is still strongly recommended, and each country you visit may have its own specific entry requirements. For example, some mandate travel health insurance for all foreign travellers, regardless of their nationality.  Those who decline insurance must sign a Travel Insurance Waiver Form acknowledging personal responsibility for emergency medical and repatriation costs. Intrepid’s sales advisors can put customers in touch with a preferred insurance provider.

REI Travel – Offers Terms and Conditions

1. REI Exclusive 15% Discount Offer

REI Member (“Member(s)”) booking an REI Exclusive Trip will receive 15% off the base price of REI Exclusive Trip (“Member Pricing”) listed on REI.com/travel pages. Members will need to log in and verify their membership number to see the discounted prices at time of booking to be eligible for this offer. Member Pricing applies to Member’s travelling companions as well. Member Pricing includes only what is listed for each trip and excludes any additional travel or hotel accommodation, meals, transfers, single supplements, travel insurance, local payments, or group tipping. Co-op Member Rewards cannot be earned or redeemed towards an REI Exclusive Trip. All REI Exclusive Trips are subject to availability and confirmation by Intrepid Travel at time of booking. Travel documents & vaccination requirements are the responsibility of the individual traveller. Except as set out expressly above, Intrepid Travel’s  Booking Conditions and applicable Special Conditions apply to the booking for all REI Exclusive Trips.  Intrepid and REI reserve the right to modify, suspend or withdraw this offer at any time without prior notice.

2. REI Recommended Trip 20% Gear Voucher Offer:

Offer valid 1/1/2026 12:01am – 4/15/2026 11:59pm PT.  Offer only available to REI Members (“Member(s)”) who booked a 2026 REI Recommended Trip through REI.com/travel. To be eligible for this offer, the booking must be made by a Member, and the Member must designate a “Lead Traveler” at the time of booking, either themselves or another designated individual that does not need to be a Member. The Lead Traveler must be the primary contact on the booking to receive all booking confirmations, updates and alerts. The Lead Traveler at time of booking will receive a REI store discount voucher for 20% off a single, online transaction on REI.com (with a maximum of $100 discount on purchase) (collectively “Voucher”). 3. Intrepid Travel Supports REI Cooperative Action Fund:  

Intrepid will donate 1% of the revenue from REI Exclusives Trips and REI Recommended Trips taken by REI Members that have departed in 2026 to the REI Cooperative Action Fund (1700 45th Street East, Sumner, WA 98352, 1-800-426-4840), to support environmental stewardship and outdoor access initiatives. No portion of purchase is tax-deductible, and there is a guaranteed minimum contribution of $25,000 and maximum contribution of $200,000.

4. 10% REI Co-op Member Reward

10% Co-op Member Reward is typical but not guaranteed.  Co-op Member Reward may be composed of a Patronage Dividend (governed by Co-op Bylaws), a Promotional Reward (governed by Membership Terms and Conditions), or a combination of both. Co-op Member Reward is based on eligible purchases, excluding portion of purchase(s) made with Promotional Reward and Promotional Checks.
