These are very nicely constructed, reminiscent of the quality Clarks of days of yore. These have very flexible soles and are pretty easy to slip on and off. Not sure they would be appropriate for extended urban hikes, haven't tried that in them yet.
Be aware that these are Earth Shoes and have very different soles from almost any other kind of shoe. They are probably not for everyone. When I first put them on they feel odd due to the very high arch of the inner side of the instep, not so much due to their lack of any elevation of the heel. Invariably after a few minutes I forget about the instep, and they are simply comfortable. They provide a welcome change of pace from other shoes I wear, and I've been using them fairly often.

My husband, who at one time could buy off the rack without ever trying the shoes on, now has feet which burn, bruise and react strongly to any shoe imperfection. When he slipped his feet into THIS shoe, he smiled, walked around and stated," now that's a comfortable shoe!!" He loves it! States it is comfortable!! This makes me very happy!! Thanks REI!!
