I'am fairly new to backpacking. I brought the small size, I'am 5'7" and 165 lbs. I had to bring it back to REI . After hiking for about 15 minutes the disc on the waist belt began to squeak, which became annoying while walking. I checked to see if the grease thats supposed to be on the disc was there and it was. It seems that Arc'teryx can not get this right, it's been an issue for a while now. I was very disappointed I had to bring it back because I thought that this was a great pack otherwise. The reason I gave it 3 stars was because I think while in the woods you should not have to listen to loud squeaking but to the sounds of nature around you.

I haven't had it for long, but so far I'm in love with the Altra 65. The build quality is far above the TNF pack I was upgrading from.

Once I got the pack adjusted correctly for me, it was super comfortable, and the rotating hip belt is definitely a nice addition. It sounded like it might be a gimmick, but it really does help me forget what I'm hauling around.

I look forward to many adventures with this pack.

The pack got here quickly, and REI worked hard to get it to me in time for a major trip. I loved everything I saw in the pack, and really enjoyed carrying it the first day. But the second day, one shoulder strap began to squeak, then the hip belt developed a small squeak. I wasn't too worried about the hip belt squeak, because a tube of lithium grease is provided for the rotating joint that holds the pack to the hip belt, and when I removed the hip belt and redistributed the grease it would quiet down. But the shoulder strap squeak was very loud and there was nothing I could do to get it to stop. The shoulder straps are held on by ingenious lug and t-slot joints and adjust easily, but the plastic to plastic joint would not stop squeaking. I reluctantly returned the pack to the store for a refund. If Arcteryx could get rid of the squeaks I would purchase another in a heart beat! Except for the noise it's the best pack I have every carried for comfort.

I planned on using this pack to carry slightly heavier loads during the winter seasons. I loved the pack in every way, but once on the trail it began squeaking loudly in the right shoulder strap. The ingenious lug method of attachment of the shoulder straps also caused a persistent and loud squeak where the lugs attached. Arcteryx even included some lithium grease with the pack, but that was mainly for the rotating hip belt load bearing system, but the shoulder strap was the worse. I could not get it to be quiet so I returned the pack immediately. I would have given this pack a perfect 5 if it hadn't squeaked.
