Comments about Asolo Velocity 3 Tent - 2012 Overstock:

The first time I set it up in the garage I noticed a tear in the netting area where the cross pole attaches. I brought it back to REI in Roseville and received outstanding customer support. One of the store personnel (Erin)) offered to repair the tent so I left it overnight. He called the next day and sadly informed me that the repair did in fact work but when they set up the tent they noticed that it was starting to tear on the other side and therefore felt that the construction integrity was faulty in the design of the tent. I returned to the store where Erin was able to provide me with an REI Half Dome 4 tent on sale with a 20% discount which only netted me an additional $65 (including the matching footprint). He helped me pitch the tent to demonstrate it. I was extremely impressed with the tent as well as the outstanding service and attention that Erin provided me to address my issues. I am extremely happy with the REI team. However as far as the original tent, ASOLO should either address the issue or discontinue sales of the product.

Took this on a camping trip. Setup was super quick. Held up exceptionally well in 15-20mph winds and through a day of rain. Stayed completely dry inside.

Comments about Asolo Velocity 3 Tent - 2012 Overstock:

Mostly a great tent for a bargain. The peak height of 44" is great, it allows me to sit up at 6'1" in the tent with out touching my head. It does come with it's own gear loft, which is a nice feature but of course lowers the peak height. Packs up nice and short if you are trying to carry it on a motorcycle like I often do. Great vestibule space, plenty of room to stow a pack and boots. Negatives include the fact that a footprint is not available for the tent, and the bottom materials is not particularly sturdy. I found a REI Cirque ASL 3 footprint is nearly a perfect match, a inch too narrow on one side so when I get the tent where I want it I unclip one corner. Also the two short poles that support the door eves are very very tight. Others have reported these ripping, hasn't on me, but I can imagine it happening. I make sure to have some tape around for repairs just in case. Generally speaking a nice tent for the price. Very dry in the rain. Does get some condensation, but nearly every tent I ever owned does that, I must emit a lot of moisture! Perhaps a bit heavy for backpacking, but I've done it and it's perfect for my wife and dog with me. Like most 3 person tents, 3 people in it would be tight.

Comments about Asolo Velocity 3 Tent - 2012 Overstock:

The overall value for this tent is the best I could find anywhere. It gives you sleeping for (3) with gear storage under rain fly awning or for (2) with great gear storage inside netting. It is rather light especially for price. I currently use it to camp with my son during Boy Scouting events and I t is easy for me to pack/hike in for a weekend trip. It has been through several heavy rains and condensation, leeks, or structure has been solid. My only concern is I have gone through (3) of these tents as when you install the lateral short top poles to support the awning openings the section they connect to on the tent has ripped either on 1st time setting up or 2nd. The rips are small but just in the right spot as misquotes that make their way under the fly can find their way in to the sleeping (no-see-um) area. Yes I can and have used a tent repair kit to seal up the rip and reinforce the connections but this should have been caught during the design and address with a few small pieces of nylon or heavier connection to netting material. Outside of that I would give this (5) stars….
