Comments about Kelty Redwing 50 Pack - 2012 Closeout:
I was looking for a bit bigger bag than my Marmot Odin 35 and thought moving up to 50L might be good (bigger, but not too big). For the price, I gave the Redwing a shot. At first, I liked the idea of all the pockets, but after a couple of overnight hikes the pockets become annoying (now where did I put those matches?). And it seemed like the increase in size was barely negligible from the Odin. A good, not a great, bag.

Comments about Kelty Redwing 50 Pack - 2012 Closeout:
I admit not actually backpacking much with this yet, but its comfortable when I have used it with decent loads. I've actually mostly used it as a suitcase and plane carryon because you can get so much in it. I can get several days of clothes plus toiletry bag plus pillow all my electronic gear and a Cpap machine with plenty of external pocket room to spare. Air travel is essentially day hiking these days after all !!
It has large internal compartments, smart expansion and well placed pockets. Good value I think. External tie ons would work well for trail packers

Comments about Kelty Redwing 50 Pack - 2012 Closeout:
I personally enjoy this bag so far. It has just enough room for a weekend trip. If I needed to, I could strap items outside the pack, but so far, that hasn't been necessary. My pack weight is running anywhere from 27-30 lbs, fully loaded. At that, I could still fit a bit more in if I had to.
I can't even think of a negative, but I'm new to backpacking and am enjoying it greatly!
