Kelty Coyote 80 Pack is rated 4.2308 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The One I just used this backpack on a 4 day trek on the Appalachian Trail. I can't say enough about this pack, it is great. I spent allot of time searching for the right backpack for me. I read reviews, forums, watched youtube videos, vendors websites, etc. I studied everything there is written about backpacks, materials, styles, weights, etc. I came across this pack once, and despite everything I read, everthing I looked at, everything I tried, I kept on coming back to this backpack. Nope, she ain't the prettiest, she certainly isn't the lightest or slimest out there. Nor will she win any popularity contest in the market of backpackers. But one thing she is is highly functional. She has allot of bells and whistles that make her a joy to use. What I really like about this pack is the external zippered pockets, 5 of them, where you can store items you need to get to often and quickly. Its so nice not to have to open your pack and feel around for something you need. I also like the external lashing points on which you can carry items you don't want to put inside your pack like trekking poles and camp axe. Of course it does have side water bottle pouches where you can keep your nalgene water bottles. And roomy. This little baby holds a ton of gear. I wasn't hurting at all for space to store a weeks worth of gear in this pack. She's tough, durable, and exudes confidence carrying all your gear. And she does it VERY COMPFORTABLY. I didn't even feel having 40 pounds on my back, felt more like a pound! The pack is fully adjustable to customize the fit to your needs. One thing I did like is the price. With all the features this pack has one would think it costs twice what it does. In fact, I've seen many, many packs out there that cost so much more but don't have half the features this pack has. I gotta say, I love my Kelty Coyote. I got mine in green. BTW. I like mine so much I went ahead and bought my wife the womans version.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pack for the buck Bought this pack for my latest multi-day trip out to Rocky Mountain National Park. This pack was easy to adjust so that it was comfortable and has great padding. Bought this pack thinking I could get everything inside but unfortunately carrying a bear canister forced me to hang my tent off the bottom. All around this is a great pack for the price. Only used for 2 trips so far, so we'll see how it holds up.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Pack This pack held up perfectly on a 10 day canoe/portage trip. I jam packed it to the gills and beat the hell out of it all 10 days and never did any damage to the pack. Zippers were fine, snap clips did not break (despite overloading the pack), and clipped an additional 30lbs of gear to the pack without tearing any of the fabric. I am really hard on gear and this pack surprisingly looks the exact same as it did when I bought it. I am very happy with this purchase but I do wish it was water proof.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A trooper of a pack. I've been using this pack for several months now. I have to admit that it is my first. But nonetheless, I have done a few 20+ mile hikes with it and even though it is a bit heavy I tend to average about three miles per hour. I personally value its durability even though that means that it is heavier. I do a lot of back country camping/climbing which puts this pack in several rough situations which it has proven strong enough for. My coyote's base weight right now is about twenty seven pounds. Once again, I am not an ultra light backpacker, I am a poor one. And to any other adventurers with tight budgets like myself, this backpack is just practical. It's cheap for it's capacity, and it's durable which means it will be longer before you need to buy another.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Kelty Pack Got this pack at an REI Scratch N Dent sale about a year back. As a former Army ROTC Cadet I learned how to pack differently than most. This 80L pack is great, but does not have a lot of internal pockets/organizers if that is important for you. It works well for me, but the only thing I would change is to add a sleeping bag compartment, thinking about getting the Kelty Red Cloud 90L, but REI only has the kids version right now. Top loading and front loading allows access to everything easily, good straps and adjusters, and tough construction makes it last.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great pack! I am just getting into this sport, so there is much I have to learn. But, from the few over night hikes that I've done, this pack was very good for carrying all that I wanted to bring. At 80 liters, you can comfortably put just about everything you want in it. It was a gift from my wife. I think the only thing I would say about it negatively is it is a bit heavy. Other than the weight, I like all the various storage compartments and adjustable straps that it has. All in all, it's a good solid backpack!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Pack I found this pack at a used gear sale to use on a four day backpacking trip in the sierras. This pack is huge and fit all my gear plus extra stuff. It had lots of additional pockets to organize gear. The harness is extremely comfortable even with a heavy load (it weighed 40+ lbs. loaded on my trip) the hip-belt held the load extremely well and the load stayed secure. The only thing i wish it had was a separate sleeping bag compartment. But overall its an excellent pack.
