Comments about Boreas Lost Coast 60 Pack - Men's:
I love this pack! Boreas is pretty new to the market and this pack has a really nice design. The pack has one main compartment which narrows towards the bottom. The front and sides of the pack are a stretchy material as well to help pull everything towards your back. This pack has some nice features along with the materials, its got a nice stretch pocket up front, 2 big hip pockets and 2 huge water bottle pockets on the side with top and side access for the bottles. One reviewer below did not like that, but I was able to lock in my nalgene through the side holes which was easier to grab on the trail. The head crab has 3 zippered pockets as well, one with a key loop. I liked how minimal the pack was, the hidden gear loops and also comes with a rain cover. Now I just took this to the Grand Canyon for 6 days and fit all my gear and food just fine. I had my sleeping pad attached to the back of the pack and it does have a hydration bladder holder. My pack started at 50lbs which was a bit much for it. I would say stick to around 30-40lbs for the best comfort level because the padding on the hips and shoulders is very minimal.

Comments about Boreas Lost Coast 60 Pack - Men's:
I took it on its first journey for 3 days on a section of the AT in Massachusetts. There was some light snow and rain falling, the coated material repelled the moisture well as a new pack, no need for the provided rain cover. Space in the pack is not a big issue if you are packing light. I would not recommend the pack to someone doing low mileage hikes and bringing lots of gear, get something more bombproof. I didn't mind the top loading only on the pack, it is what it is. I wouldn't mind bigger loops at the base of the pack than are provided though. Compression straps work very well to keep weight close to the pack. Found the support system to be very comfortable with the HDPE and foam sheet. Would certainly say best used for fast and light movers. Very happy with the pack.

Comments about Boreas Lost Coast 60 Pack - Men's:
Overall I like it since it's a pretty good pack and I got it on clearance online. However, it's got one big design flaw: The stretchy side pockets each have a 3 inch wide by 4 inch tall hole designed in them centered btwn the top and bottom of the pocket. That's a really bad idea because stuff inevitably finds it way to that hole and falls out while you're hiking. I have lost some very expensive gear with designs like this. That probably explains why it was on clearance.
BUT, it's pretty well designed and light. The 45 liter size is marginally big enough to carry basic 3-day survival gear (20lbs) assuming you have a small (~2 liter) overnight survival butt pack that you attach to the outside of this pack and very little gear redundancy.
The features I liked the best are the detachable top compartment and the included rain cover (nice touch). It has all of the adjustment straps you'd normally find on a larger multi-day pack so it fits very nicely.

Comments about Boreas Lost Coast 60 Pack - Men's:
the straps are very optimized... so it did not perform as well for me into the ~35lb+ range; however it was still more than adequate for a 6-mile hike; Under ~35lbs it was very comfortable (for me).
Used it on the Olympic Peninsula Ozette Triangle (lots of rain) without issue.
It is pretty much as Boreas advertised it (simple lightweight backpack).

Comments about Boreas Lost Coast 60 Pack - Men's:
I own a lot of packs--Mystery Ranch, Gregory, Osprey, Kelty, Northface, blah, blah, blah. I use them all depending on the situations. I'm equally fond of Gregory (more straps you can shake a stick at) and Mystery Ranch (Let's see if a person can fit in there) to my Gossamer Gear ULP. The Boreas is a clean, well thought out design and exactly as advertised. Not a true ULP, but close.
Pros: A very clean design, effective pockets, very good belt pockets! raincover.
Cons: The straps are a little too thin for my taste. They do the job, but this isn't a indestructible Mystery Ranch pack (above bomb proof). The 'air foam' didn't really work for me, but then I find none of the pack manufactures claims do. The zippers are also a bit light.
All in all a great pack for a weekender, overnight, maybe longer if you pack light. For me it seemed to become unstable at around 30 lbs. The compression straps work great.
More colors would be cool.

Comments about Boreas Lost Coast 60 Pack - Men's:
I believe this pack has a lot of really good things going for it. First of all the foam on the back panel is one of the most comfortable materials I have ever felt on my back. The material quality, organization of the pockets and minimalist design are awesome. The overall design of the pack in my opinion is perfect with the exception of the fact that the frame sheet is identical on the medium and large packs. The result, (if your tall like me) is the pack pulls away from your back at the shoulders and the load lifters do not angle back at the 45 degree angle they are supposed to. this puts a lot of pressure on the front of your shoulders and causes discomfort. I am very disappointed because I really like everything else about the pack. I am 6'4" and have a 21" torso. I'm sure that this pack will be very comfortable for most normal height people, but they should have also considered taller human beings.

Comments about Boreas Lost Coast 60 Pack - Men's:
After going through 5 different packs over the past year to meet my goal for reducing pack weight and still maintaining load carrying comfort, Boreas finally came up with the perfect pack. The design and craftsmanship of this pack is excellent and it carries lightweight and moderate loads very well. There is plenty of room to carry gear for a week and it compresses down enough for weekend trips. If you're in the market for a new pack, then don't hesitate to put this one at the top of your list!
