Cold, rainy weather and down insulation? Not just a dream with the Sierra Designs Zissou +15°F sleeping bag and the new DriDown™ finish for down insulation. It resists water and dries fast.

  • Regular down takes on water and is very difficult to dry; through the DriDown proprietary process, each individual down plume is treated with a hydrophobic finish
  • With the down now resistant to water, the insulation maintains its loft and stays dry 7 times longer than untreated down
  • It also performs better in high humidity than regular down, and in case it accidentally gets wet, it will dry out faster, too
  • Lightweight yet durable 30-denier micro-ripstop polyester shell and comfortable, moisture-wicking polyester lining warms up fast
  • Baffle construction keeps down from migrating, eliminating cold spots
  • Full-length 2-way, double sliding zipper allows easy venting; locking slider is backed by wide, antisnag binding tape
  • Snag-free zipper tracks prevent the dreaded stuck zipper by creating a barrier between the lining and the zipper track
  • Fully insulated draft tube backing the zipper keeps body heat in and cold air out
  • Ergonomic, nonrestrictive hood cradles your head in warmth; hood features differentiated drawcords that make fit adjustments easy, even in the dark
  • Roomy, ergonomically shaped footbox enhances comfort and warmth of feet
  • Sierra Designs Zissou +15°F comes with stuff sack and storage bag
  • European Norm (EN) is an independent third-party temperature rating, allowing accurate comparisons across brands with other EN-rated bags

Comments about Sierra Designs Zissou DriDown Sleeping Bag:

I use it just for Camping nothing to crazy, yet it has worked out great and I where I have been sleeping it gets below 30 degrees and I have been more than comfortable. I enjoy how light it is and how small you can get it. Because of its size and weight it makes a great backpacking sleeping bag or just a casual use sleeping bag.

Comments about Sierra Designs Zissou DriDown Sleeping Bag:

While I haven't yet tested this bag out in the elements, I can claim the following of the 15 degree bag I recently purchased on sale: it packs down remarkably well and is so light (its my first down bag), very comfortable and warm ( although without actual exposure in the environment its not yet known how the temperature rating, my own body heat potential will yet respond to cold weather), the drydown coating provides added durability and functionality on longer backpacking trips to withstand potential wet conditions as well, unlike other down bags. The color scheme and styling are also pretty swell. look forward to taking it out.

Comments about Sierra Designs Zissou DriDown Sleeping Bag:

The water resistance of the pack was great. I took it to Patagonia and we woke up in some kinda muggy environments but the bag was fine. The one knock I have on it is I don't think it's as warm as indicated. I read somewhere that their warmth ratings weren't completely accurate and I didn't carry around a thermometer to know for sure but I'm pretty sure if it's 15 degrees, you'll be cold in this. There was one night we were at the base of a mountain, it was snowing and obviously pretty cold. That being said, I'm from the northeast and I know how cold 15 degrees is. It was probably about that but I went to sleep in literally every piece of clothing I had (a lot) and was still chilly throughout the night. So great bag overall, I'd just get the temperature reading below what you think you'll actually encounter to play it safe.

Comments about Sierra Designs Zissou DriDown Sleeping Bag:

      Pros -
Solid product overall...used it several times in extreme cold (15 to -15 degrees)...in and out of snow shelters. The bag itself is nicely constructed and has a small stash pocket for a headlamp or iPhone (but not much else). The bag is also warm, lofts nicely, packs down fairly small, and feels roomy though not overly boxy. Worth the price.

      Cons -
The zippers can be a bit tricky and seem to get hung up on the shell material fairly easily...I'd like to see that tweaked for a future model. I think it could use a bit more baffling/down in the hood area and an increased sized stash pocket would be appreciated, but those are relatively minor concerns overall.

I personally think it works best in combination with a bivy sack over top and a sleeping bag liner..making it a versatile piece of kit to invest in rather than buying multiple bags of various ratings that you'll only use in rare circumstances. You'll get a lot of use out of this product across a range of lower temperatures if you invest in a comparable system.

Comments about Sierra Designs Zissou DriDown Sleeping Bag:

The bag is comfortably warm and light. I camped out in January with the temperature dipping a little above freezing. I was very warm and comfortable. Being new to mummy bags, I found the bag to be a little tight around the chest area, but not enough to make its use uncomfortable.

Comments about Sierra Designs Zissou DriDown Sleeping Bag:

I've used this on four trips since I bought it in December. It got all wet one trip (my fault for being badly prepared for a soaking wet weekend), but dried really quickly. I get cold easily, but with a reactor extreme liner I was comfortable at 10 degrees. It packs super small. Not super tough material- it's pretty thin. has a small snag hole, not sure what from. Keeps you warm even when damp!

Comments about Sierra Designs Zissou DriDown Sleeping Bag:

I am a cliber and light weight backpacker. The version of this bag I have is the 0 degree bag. I have yet to test it on weather that cold but in the 35-45 degree range the bag is almost too warm. In that case what I do is role up the head portion and use it as a pillow. There is a lot of room to roll around in the bag and its so soft. Plus the greatest aspect is that the Dridown technology.

Comments about Sierra Designs Zissou DriDown Sleeping Bag:

I've spent pretty much all summer in the San Juan's in southern Colorado. The weather is variable up there to say the least. I used this on some pretty cold nights, close to 20 degrees, rainy nights, and warm nights. It performed well in every circumstance. the fabric has shown no sign of wear, the zipper doesn't snag as often as some other bags I've had and when it does jam getting it out is easy. Almost no down leaks and the bag packs down decently, it's not tiny but it's definitely not bulky. This thing works great especially when Klaus, Ned and Eleanor are close by and your crew is wearing their signature red beanies (I often admit that the Zissou name is what originally lured me to this bag). Make sure you bring your Portuguese David Bowie sing-along set!

Comments about Sierra Designs Zissou DriDown Sleeping Bag:

I needed a sleeping bag for backpacking and car camping and was looking for something light weight, small and warm. After reading about the hydrophobic down in Bootprints' newsletter I decided to check out the DriDown bags. I have had an unplesant experience of sleeping in a wet sleeping bag so I was very intrested in the idea of a Down bag that stays dry longer and dries faster. I purchased this bag and couldn't be happier. I'm 5'9" so most women's bags are to short for me but this bag is perfect- it is comfortable and roomy. It is light weight and packs up small so it is perfect for backpacking. I took it camping this past weekend and it got down to low 40s high 30s at night and I was warm and comfortable the whole time (and I am someone who is cold all the time).
My one complaint is the stuff sack was not as small as I would have like it to be. I bought a smaller stuff sack (11oz) at REI and my bag fits perfectly in it and is a much better size for backpacking. Over all this is a great bag for backpacking and 3 season camping. I am very happy with my purchase and want to say thanks to Bootprints for the great recomendation!
