To correct the previous reviewer who was reviewing an older outdated model, this tent does come with a gear loft and its a great one. Also the product description fails to mention there are massive amounts of interior pocket space inside. SIX pockets total. The length is great, I am 6'0" and there is room to spare length wise. The window vents are also an awesome feature especially when the sun is beating down on you in the AM. The doors open easily with one hand and the poles are notched so they don't slip out of the rivet holes which I looove. Overall a great quality tent and very sturdy compared to some other tents I have of reputable brands. When I bought this I was surprised by the great features that are NOT mentioned in the description anywhere on the internet.

My 11 year old and I went on our first backpacking trip with Scouts. We purchased the Chaos 3 for the trip. We hiked 4 miles in Savage Gulf to our campsite. The tent was very easy to set up. We had the ground cover down, the tent up, and the fly on in less than five minutes. A storm front blew thru with high winds on our first night. The tent held up with no problems. It took little time to take down the tent and place in the backpack.

My wife and I purchased this tent for both back country hiking, and for car camping. It's light enough to split between the two of us and take anywhere. yet big enough to have out queen air mattress for the car camping trips. We have taken this tent throughout the mountains, hills, plains, beaches, and forests of many national parks where we work as guides, and it works great every time. Several days and nights have been spent in torrential downpours and not a drop has come in. This is a wonderful tent for the active outdoors type, I hope you enjoy this as much as we do.

I got this tent to replace an old REI 6 person dome. That tent was great but a lot bigger then what me and my wife need. We were able to fit a queen size air mattress inside the Chaos tent, but there was not a lot of room to spare after that. We had about an inch on each side and about a foot at the bottom. Good thing there were 6 pockets, and amazing little attic (great place for flashlights). It would be better suited for sleeping pads or a full size air mattress. Set up was easy and the rain fly has great coverage along with creating two good size vestibules. The tent is very sturdy so it will be able to deal with a lot of wind when that time comes. Great tent for 2 for car camping and backpacking.

The first time we used this tent, we were caught in a huge lightning storm on Mt Adams. We kept dry as can be..which is my top priority because I've slept in too many wet tents. One person can set it up in 5 minutes--it essentially uses one pole. Also--if you buy the footprint, you can take the tent down in heavy rain without it ever getting wet; the fly and the footprint can be free standing. Also the two-door/two vestibule design is a great way for people to access their gear or get up in the middle of the night and not wake your partner. It's a little heavy but fine when you share the weight. I'm thinking of buying the 2-person model for my son who likes to be light. This is a really great tent.

This is a great tent for the price. The features really make this a well rounded design. The gear loft is big and the six mesh wall pockets offer large amounts of storage. The vents are awesome in the summer and the double vestibule is really great. The only thing I don't love is the weight but for a bomb proof tent, carrying the extra weight could be worth it depending on the weather. For car camping its been great but too low, I always hit my head on the gear in the loft and it falls all over the place. I don't use a footprint due to weight and the floor has held up well. Set up isn't bad, set the poles up first and then pop the hooks on. Rolling it up can be a pain as with any tent. Also not a fan or the orange color, obnoxious in the back country but for the price I'd probably buy it again.

The first time out with this tent, it rained and by rain I mean it poured for hours on end. It was a good test for the tent and unfortunately two issues came to light pretty quickly. First, there is no overhang over the door of this tent and once the vestibule is opened there is nothing to keep the rain from going directly into it. Second, about four hours into the torrential downpour, the tent started to leak directly over head which drenched a pillow. I think the latter problem can be fixed by simply sealing the seams and I should emphisize that it did rain a lot. It even hailed a little and the tent held up fine. There was no wind so I can't comment on how wind resistant it was. Unfortunately, I also realized that I am not as young as I use to be and this low profile tent is difficult to get in and out of, so because of that I'm taking it back, though I can't really blame my bad knees on the tent. All in all, I think the tent lived up to expectations and for the price, it would make a good tent for for those looking for a sturdy back packing or car camping tent.

The first time I used this tent was a one night camping trip with my wife. We arrived at the campsite a couple of hours before the pouring rain began. We had the tent set up in 5 min max, and it only took that long because it was the first time and we didn't read the directions. This is the easiest set up for any tent I've ever used! It proceeded to rain heavily all night and the wind was kicking up too! But we were toasty warm and totally dry inside the Chaos 3. The only con I found was that the fly collected condensation because of how hard it was raining. But that didn't really affect us inside the tent at all. Overall, I would highly recommend this tent to anyone that's looking for a compact, versatile, water resistant tent that will hold up in harsh conditions.

We bought this as we were getting back into camping last year, upgrading from a too-small "test" tent. We're not broke kids anymore, but we don't have a lot of extra cash, so budget was definitely important. I read a lot of reviews and checked a lot of specs before deciding on the Chaos 3, and I am SO happy with the decision. This fits out full-sized airmattress and daypacks/duffel with plenty of room to spare, and the gear loft keeps lights and watches within reach. The set-up was pretty easy, and the fly is great. It was so comfortable and fun camping in this tent, we really regreted that the weather didn't let us camp more last fall. We can't wait to go out again over spring break.
