Comments about Marmot Mavericks +30 Sleeping Bag:
Quite honestly, the reason I purchased this bag was the price. I had a late November camping trip to Kentucky planned and haven't purchased a sleeping bag in about 20 years. None of the bags we had were warm enough for the 25-35 degree temps we expected.
At 6'3, 220# I need a long and wide bag, and didn't like the idea of sleeping in a mummy bag. This seemed like a good compromise. I figured a warm hat and neck warmer would help keep my head warm.
The first night it was about 25 degrees, so I kept a sweatshirt on, put on the hat and neck warmer and gave it the acid test. Other than being a little uncomfortable due to not blowing up my mattress enough the bag worked fine. I'm still a little too wide in the shoulders to be comfortable enough, but I was able to sleep warmly and didn't have to break out the liner I bought in case.
I don't understand the problems others have getting the bag into the compression sack, unless maybe they are trying to roll it up to make it fit. I just put the footbox in first and keep stuffing it in. Once it's compressed I can easily get it small enough to fit the entire thing in my backpack. Heck, I could get my pillow and liner in there as well if I really wanted to compress it.
The last night of camping we had some early morning rain. I didn't know it until I got up, but the tent was leaking right above the footbox and the outer shell was wet. I never felt any wetness in the bag and it dried by the time we got home.
I have no complaints about the bag at all. It's not the best fit for me, but that's not the fault of the bag.

Comments about Marmot Mavericks +30 Sleeping Bag:
Purchased as a Summer bag for backpacking. It is good in that it packs small, light weight, and not nearly as restrictive as a mummy bag. The zippers stick a bit so be careful. Don't forget a cheap mylar emergency blanket as +30 degree might not be enough in bad weather. Lay the emergency blanket on top for heat or underneath if the ground is wet. I gave it 5 stars because of the low price and features, I can overlook the sometimes sticky zippers.....

Comments about Marmot Mavericks +30 Sleeping Bag:
I picked this up on the way out to the lake. as far as the bag goes it did an amazing job. I stayed completely warm it was weird i was like the perfect temperature all night. The low was 31 and i was toasty inside of this bag so i feel ill be ok in the 20's. As far as comfort goes it was superb. It was a little tight on my shoulders when moving around in it but I'm 6'1 230 pounds with broad shoulders so can't really fault the bag on that one. overall it was great and the zipper doesn't snag if u pull it like a normal human and not as though your trying to rip it off. overall great buy

Comments about Marmot Mavericks +30 Sleeping Bag:
Not a bad bag, but I returned mine after 2 uses. Not a fan of the left handed zipper (counter intuitive IMHO), zippers snagged way too often and the bag was a real hassle to roll up tightly and get into the compression sack. I must also admit that the main reason for returning is that I tried to get away with using this for moderate backpacking and that is not what the model is intended for, but the bag has it's own flaws aside from my misusing it. I could have made it work, but I've since found bags that will suit my specific needs better at similar/better cost.

Comments about Marmot Mavericks +30 Sleeping Bag:
I use the Maverick to backpack and car camp. It packs very small and has a soft cotton feel to the fabric inside the bag. It has been plenty warm thus far... I'm 5'10" and 170 lbs and found the bag a little too short. My shoulders come out of the top of the bag and when fully inside the bag it feels a little tight around my shoulders. Overall, I'm glad I purchased this product.
