Patagonia Loulu Shoes - Men's
Patagonia Loulu shoes are refined enough for the big presentation, but comfortable enough for all-day wear, solidifying them as great all-around shoes for every day.
- Supple, extra-soft full-grain leather uppers are sourced from tanneries that strive to minimize harmful effects on the environment caused by their activities
- Wide toe boxes and a generous fit provide all-day comfort
- Wool linings and merino-wool-topped footbeds naturally regulate temperature and move moisture away from feet
- EVA midsoles are made from 20% recycled EVA and deliver shock absorption for all-day wear
- Outsoles are stitched onto uppers, which minimizes the need for solvents and adhesives
- Outsoles are made from 70% all-natural latex, harvested from hevea trees and molded into a distinctive honeycomb pattern for ample traction

Let me begin with saying that I HATE wearing dress shoes! I've never worn a pair that did not hurt my feet after a while. That was until I bought a pair of these Patagonia Loulu's. As soon as I put them on I immediately loved them. I wore them straight to work. I actually stayed up working for 40 hours straight before kicking them off. I was on my feet most of the time and did not have a problem with my feet whatsoever! I didn't realize how amazing that was until I actually got into bed thinking my feet should be killing me by now. Now, anytime I wear a work uniform or dress pants, best believe I'm going to be rocking a pair of these bad boys. I may even buy another back up pair... I almost forgot to mention how good they look on my feet.

I love these shoes, but hate how they wear out so quickly. I am currently on my third pair as the first pair wore out in 3 months and I returned them to get a pair that squeaked every step I took so I returned those as well. I am now on my third pair and after another 3 months I can already see where I might only get another two weeks out of them before I have another hole in the sole. I saw some review where it talked about "hiking" in these, that is not the case here. I manage food service in a hospital and wear the shoes M-F to work. They do not take any more abuse than normal every day wear. For shoes that are [$] I would expect a better product. I love the way the feel, hate the way they wear out so quickly.

The uppers are great and the shoe works so long as you stay on carpeting or smooth surfaces. Outdoors, however, you feel every pebble or root due to the way-too-thin sole. Maybe Patagonia can come up with a better sole--if so, this would fast become a classic. Until they can upgrade the sole, I would not buy another pair.

I love this shoe. I have been looking for something business casual to wear to the office that looks different. This shoe is incredibly comfortable and just looks great. For people concerned about other reviews saying this shoe wears out fast as a light hiking/walking shoe... Who wears something like this hiking? Buy it as a casual shoe to sometimes wear to work. If you are planning on wearing this shoe days and days on end, you might want to get a different shoe.
As for sizing... In most shoes, I wear 11.5, except for Timberland in which I wear 11. I bought the Loulu in size 11 and need to wear something a bit thicker than dress socks.

I'm updating my 6/11 review. No change in my review except that the soles have lasted much longer then expected. 9 months and they are just about to wear through the sole. They lasted much longer then feared, but still, 9 months is not very long. I will get a new sole or pair because I use them everyday.
