Comments about Lafuma Extreme 800 +40 Sleeping Bag - Regular - Special Buy:

The loose threads and lining rip where the inside pocket is sewn in can be overlooked. The shoulder girth is specified to be 64" but is the same size as my REI Zephyr which is 60". The hip girth is specified at 60" but feels smaller than the 57" Zephyr. I was looking for something that's bigger, so that's enough reason for me to return it. Quality is about the same as those big [...] bags.

Comments about Lafuma Extreme 800 +40 Sleeping Bag - Regular - Special Buy:

This bag was a good deal for the price. I used it on a five day trip to the Olympic Peninsula inside an REI bivy. For the milage covered, this small bag was a life saver. I had no issues with zippers or snagging. My night at 4,000 ft I awoke shivering, but temps were quite low and it was late in the season. Every other night I did not feel the bag was lacking in any way. Looking back I would have chosen this bag again over a move expensive or bulkier bag.

Comments about Lafuma Extreme 800 +40 Sleeping Bag - Regular - Special Buy:

First, the picture of this sleeping bag on the website is inaccurate...makes it look like the bag is decorated in two shades of AWFUL. Actually, the bag is quite nice looking...battleship grey with a chartreuse or bright lime green X pattern and trim. Completely inoffensive. Second, I ordered this bag a bit tentatively given the other reviews about poor workmanship and shoddy stitching. I don't doubt that the other users may have had such problems, but for what it's worth, the bag I received looks perfectly fine...and I have been known to get a bit OCD about my gear. Anyway, another datapoint for those who may be on the fence.

While I have not had a chance to try it in the field yet to gauge its temperature performance, I can say that the insulation in this bag appears to be minimal at best. There really is no loft to the fill whatsoever...part of why the bag packs down so small. Feels like the insulation consists of a 3/4"-1" thick layer of low-density fiber fill between the inner and outer nylon-like faces. Underside insulated panel is not quilted at all, so it's not clear what (if anything) keeps the underside fill in place, or keeps it from being torn, bunched up, or otherwise mutilated. Not sure how well this will hold up in the long run. The bag ships compressed in a small matching stuff sack, but no larger storage sack is included.

Bottom line: an inexpensive, compact, lightweight, warm weather bag that is not nearly as ugly as the picture would lead you to believe. Out of the box, it exceeded my rather low expectations based on other reviews here. The real proof will be in a field test...

This sleeping bag fit me great (Im 5'8"), so that was good, but the product description said it was for longer people. It packs really small, and kept me warm down to temps sub 40.

This is a great bag for the price, I do wish it was a bit roomier in the foot area, but I've gotten used to it. It's really light weight and small, perfect for backpacking in a warm weather environment.

Bought for spring/fall camping in Texas. It was a little warm when zipped. No way to attach sleeping pad and bag.

Comments about Lafuma Extreme 800 +40 Sleeping Bag - Regular - Special Buy:

This would be a pretty good summer bag if i could get into it. The sizing specs on this bag are all wrong. The bag is barely 60 inches around at the shoulders not 64 that the specs say. Plus when i tested it out, i could feel the draft of my ceiling fan on my legs through the bag. If you're a small guy or a lady, this is a good backpacing summer bag and thats about it.

I used this bag on the my AT thru hike in '09, traded it with another hiker and I won't use anything else now. It packs real small and is super light. Not the warmest of bags, but I didn't shiver at night with my clothes on.

"Bag mechanics" OK - sewing, seams, zippers, fill. Works well for car camping, summer bivy, and emergency bedroll. I'm 5'11, 170 lbs - fit is OK, plenty of room for liner to boost temp rating a bit. Price/performance is good - better than many other "low end" bags I'd checked out.

Comments about Lafuma Extreme 800 +40 Sleeping Bag - Regular - Special Buy:

This is a good bag that does what I wanted it to do. It keeps me warm in slightly chilly temperatures and it packs small. This compresses to roughly the size of a nalgene. There is no compression or storage sack included, just a stuff sack. For the price, it is a perfect summer bag. I can trash this thing and not feel guilty about sleeping on the ground in an expensive down bag.
