Being light and a small sack are big pluses. But, as two other people have noted, a liner is necessary to get it down to 30 degrees. By itself this bag is only good to about 45 degrees.

I used this bag for 14 days at Philmont above 9,000 feet and on cold nights all I needed was silk liner to take this bag down to high 30's. It was light and roomy and even repelles water so if you get condensation on the bag it will not soak through. You need a good pad with it though because it doesnt provide allot of cushion. It is a little tightish but not claustrophobic. The glow in the dark zipper is also nice. You won't be disappointed.

I haven't tried this sleeping bag in freezing conditiion, but i'm liking this sleeping bag. It's very light, soft & comfy. It's way better than my coleman +30 (it's so big, I can't fit in my backpack), yet only $20 difference in price.

This thing packs so small and is super lightweight. I had a heavier bag before and didn't know what I was missing. I did some research prior to purchasing the 1000 and it seemed to me that this was the best combination of weight, warmth, and price. I have been super happy so far. Only problem is with the long, I think my feet are not as well insulated and get a little cold (I am 5'7" and not tall enough for it). It could definitely work for 3 season, I have used it near Tahoe and up near Mendocino where it has been chilly at night- I am guessing 40ish. It was warm except for my feet. I am thinking about buying a liner to maximize warmth, but it gets the job done.

This thing is not too fancy, works well, is warm enough for most trips and can handle the floor of a buddies house like a champ! If you want a 3 season i would recommend this one.

Bag was very comfortable in mid-40's SC mountains. Hood adjustment and shoulder velcro closures are a little difficult to use in the dark from within the bag, by feel only. I managed to figure it out after experimenting but this part of the design could use a little improvement. Good advice is to see if you can manage all the closures and adjustments in the dark from inside the bag.

This is a great bag for backpacking! Once in its stuff sack it is smaller then my backpacking pillow. The only issues I noticed is that it is a little tight around the hips and I am not a big guy and the fact that the hood doesn't really fit like many other mummy bags. However these are small issues considering the weight and size.
