    The REI Member Dividend

The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.

Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.

Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Arc'Teryx Axios 50 Pack:

This pack is just the right size for multi day minimalist backpacking. In the main compartment I can fit my 15 deg sleeping bag in the bottom, pack the clothes on top, then food and water bladder. Top compartment has 2 pockets and a small map pocket. Map, keys, wallet, compass in the map pocket. Water filter toiletries with room to spare in another pocket. Stove/pots first aid kit in the last pocket. Thermarest straps to the side, tent straps securely in-between main compartment and top. Rain jacket and dirty clothes fit great in the "kangaroo" pocket. Plenty of places to clip on anything else and the two side mesh pockets can store snacks etc. What more do you really need?
Sure an adjustable/removable hip belt would be nice. So would a separate compartment for the sleeping bag. So would extra straps/pockets. But is all that really necessary? It would just add weight and bulk and encourage packing unnecessary items.
This pack is very well designed and very comfortable. I love the side access zipper.
My only question is going to be durability over the long haul. I've only done one 4 day trip and it held up well. Did the push for reduced weight sacrifice durability? Time will tell, but it's Arc teryx and their reputation goes a long way.

Comments about Arc'Teryx Axios 50 Pack:

I would call myself a minimalist on a couple of 5 day hikes. I use to hike with a full 80 pack and decided to jump down to the smaller 50 pack. The Arc'Teryx Axios 50 Pack has been a perfect change. On hot summer days it was very comfortable...I can easily give this pack a 100+ in padding. My tent and sleeping pad fits perfectly in the side straps and it is very adjustable. The pack has an option to put a bladder inside the main compartment which is a plus when your hiking in places with low waterways. However, I would change the outside elastic pockets on the outside. When the pack is full you really can't use the pockets.

Comments about Arc'Teryx Axios 50 Pack:

This is a great bag. Not as many features as the Osprey Atmos 50 which it replaced for me but far superior quality. Not for anyone looking to fit a large synthetic sleeping bag in it. If you can fit your sleeping bag in a 10L compression sack, you should be fine. Took it on a 3 day trip to the BWCA when I got it and was able to fit all my gear with room to spare.
