I bought a classic 27 oz. Kanteen bottle today, love the color, love the size, weight, shape. I went home, washed it out with warm, soapy water and then filled it with water. Before closing the lid I had a sip - the water had none of the expected water bottle taste, and I felt like I was drinking from a standard drinking glass. I was impressed! Then I screwed on the Sport Cap 2.0, took another sip, and the lid produced a whistling/chirpinging sound. I tried another sip, again. After drinking the entire contents of the bottle to see if there was any problem with the amount in the bottle affecting the awful noise, I concluded it was the cap.I've now searched through the Klean Kanteen website, and it mentions on their FAQ that the sport cap 2.0 makes a chirping sound [@] with some suggestions on how to solve the problem. I tried everything they recommended, but nothing helped.Because I bought the bottle with the sale price, and I was so impressed with the bottle itself, I'll be keeping it - but I'll definitely be contacting the company to make a complaint and see if they'll ship me a new loop cap, as that's what I had wanted all along. All in all, great bottle, but buy a loop cap, don't even bother trying the Sport Cap out.

Most of my Klean Kanteens were purchased with the loop caps so I purchased several of the sport caps for convenience. I love them...no more spilling water down myself while trying to drink in the car. The squeaky sound the other reviews complained of is solved by simply loosening the cap. It only needs to be finger tight and it won't leak but it also won't squeak.

Bought two canteens. One for my son and self. My son's cap broke first. Threw it away and then gave him mine to use, that broke too. Got a recall notice from company and had only the one cap to turn in but sent a letter explaining that the other one had broke and was thrown away (not recyclable.) Received only one cap back under the recall and that broke within a month. Looking to get just the screw cap vs the sport cap so that I don't have to throw two stainless bottles and [$] in the trash too.

I typically use this bottle on a daily basis as well as for outdoor endeavors. Unfortunately, after loosing my old one, I bit the bullet to buy another. I love the stainless steel, and the slim bottle design, but the new sport cap that replaced the loop cap just isn't an equal substitute for me. The spout cap/cover is not easy to remove and would probably be more convenient to not use this piece at all. The cap leaks if the bottle is not upright. The moral of the story: Klean Canteen, please give us back the loop cap option (without having to replace the sport cap for an additional [$])! For the price, I may go back to Nalgene. sigh!

Bought the 27 oz bottle and was initially stoked on it. It fit in my car cup holder, bike drink holder, backpack etc. I got home and tried it and the taste was great.... and then I screwed on the sport cap and there came the whistle. You could probably compete with the loudest marmots with this whistle. I hoped that maybe it just needed a bit of time? Wrong, it didn't help if I loosened the cap or anything. This wouldn't have been such a problem, except I am a full time student and it gets kind of old having a whole class room of people glaring at you several times a day.

I was able to trade the sport cap with a friend's loop cap and fell madly in love with the water bottle. Unfortunately, I lost it this past weekend. My hopes were high that REI would carry the loop cap, but for some reason they only cater to those who enjoy constant whistling competitions. Looks like my water bottle shopping is not going to happen at REI.

Would not go without this Sport Cap w/dust cover. I use it daily on my commute to work and at work. I also use for hikes and other outdoor activities. Easy to drink from while moving, hiking or biking. Stays clean to taste all day long. The bottle keeps the water naturally cool. I just get a few looks from my co-workers when I am drinking occassionally, but they get it and leave me alone. But, outdoors is perfect as well as in the car, no spills. If you can manage to tap the nozzle down tight it does not spill when knocked over.

I really like this cap. I have 3 kleen kanteen bottles and had trouble drinking from the opening. No matter how careful I was I would always end up spilling it on me. (I don't now who came up with the size opening - too big to be comfortable like a bottle and too small to be comfortable like a drinking glass!) With this top I can drink easily without spilling any all over me. It does make a bit of noise but it's really not a big deal.
