Comments about Arc'Teryx Arrakis 50 Pack:
I tried 2 of these, but the pivot seat was rotated which made the belt tilt unevenly from side to side. Fairly functional, but really questionable quality for the price.

Comments about Arc'Teryx Arrakis 50 Pack:
I've bought many things from REI since the seventies and been satisfied, but my recent experience with the Arrakis 50 has been unfortunate.
I ordered one online, and when I got it home I realized the pivoting device had been rotated which caused the belt to tilt more to one side than the other. REI took it back without question and ordered another.
The second pack had a small rotation to the pivoting seat which I could live with. However, it had an odd smoky odor in the main compartment, and I found a plastic garbage bag stashed in the hydration sleeze. It, also, had some minor scuffs, and the information cards were zip tied to a strap, not on the zippper of the top compartment. All this indicated it had been used, and I returned it without question.
The third bag looked new and it even had the small packet of lithium grease in the top compartment. However, again the pivot seat was rotated so the belt tilted more to one side than the other. REI accepted it back willingly.
The offset in the tilt may not bother others. It is still largely functional, but for the money and reputation of ArcTeryx it just didn't seem right to me. I have an Arrakis 65 and a Naos 70, and the belts tilt evenly.
Make your choice.
