Overall, this is a very good windproof vest. I've only had it a few weeks, so I can't comment on durability yet. It is however, very comfortable with a snug but not tight fit around the shoulders, underarms and hips. The finishing on the inside of the vest is very nice and the pockets are a useful size. The only things I would change about it would be the addition of a woven fabric lining, and maybe a pocket for a music player.

Given the current lack of choice of windproof vests for women, I'm very glad REI is offering a good model.

Comments about REI Windbrake Thermal Fleece Vest - Women's:

I am generally a size 12 in most clothes, am 5'3" and the large is a perfect fit, not loose nor tight and a perfect length for me. Love the nonbulky fabric, which provides fine core protection, with no fluff but also not stiff or noisy. Haven't gotten to test it in cold wind yet, but it is a great layer in cool and damp spring weather. The color is great, but could better be described as "periwinkle." Last but not least, my new vest had a plate of cooked eggs dumped on it--olive oil, potatoes, other veggies AND tumeric. I feared that it would be grossly stained, but I quickly washed it out and it is completely fine.
