The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Byer TriLite Stool - X Large:
The bottom of the legs have a triangular bracing to prevent over extension; however, nothing prevents the legs from moving inward, i.e., it doesn't stay deployed when in use. The result is any shift of weight causes the tripod base to become more like a bipod. It wobbles from side to side and has no stability forward and backward.
On a flat, hard, stable, non-slick surface, I can definitely see myself tipping backward on my head.
Bottom line--yes. I would definitely recommend this product to an enemy.

Comments about Byer TriLite Stool - X Large:
I bought this for an extending canoeing trip in the Northwoods, thinking the extra height would be a godsend for my sometimes cranky back. Seemed great in the store, but get it out in anything like real-life camping terrain, and you discover it's very unstable.
I am not a particularly clumsy, unobservant or stupid man, yet at least once a day, I took a hard tumble onto my butt.
I junked this at the end of the trip. After 10+ miles of paddling and portaging, I don't expect sitting down in camp to be the biggest challenge of the day.

Comments about Byer TriLite Stool - X Large:
I use this stool for both backpacking, when capacity allows, and for touring by motorcycle. I have brought it car-camping a couple of times as well, but that sort of activity would do better with a full size chair. This stool is very compact and sturdy once you get used to it. It would likely be too unstable for kids, elderly, and weak beings.

Comments about Byer TriLite Stool - X Large:
I bought the stool to take backpacking. It is lightweight, strong and packs nicely. I'm 6'6", 240 lbs and on firm, level ground the stool works. But, if the ground is soft or slightly uneven the stool becomes very unstable. I've taken it on half a dozen backpacking trips and kicked myself for hauling it each time. It's headed for permanent storage.

Comments about Byer TriLite Stool - X Large:
My husband and I have put on more padding than we care to think about and needed some camping stools that could handle our weight. I cannot recommend THIS size stool for the average size person unless you really want the 22 inch height. Byer makes a smaller stool with a weight limit of 200 lbs, is a pound lighter, and 4 inches shorter when folded. That being said, this stool is very comfortable for a stool (no back support), stable, and not bad to carry in a day pack. The stool is quite light considering it can handle 275 lbs. The first few times of use, it can be a little tricky to assemble because the seat canvas is so tight.

Comments about Byer TriLite Stool - X Large:
I bought this chair based on it's size for use while motorcycle camping in the mountains. It packs very small. It's slightly better than my old 3 pole stool. After 2 trips with it, I'm looking for something more comfortable with a back rest. I found that it is very tippy and not the chair to be after having a few beers at the campfire. Without a backrest, it's only slightly better than sitting on a rock.
