Comments about Alps Mountaineering Comet 1.5 Tent - Special Buy:
This is a great light-weight small tent that serves its purpose well as a shelter, so as long as you keep your expectations in line with the purpose of this tent you will like it. I mostly use it as a 1-person compact tent when I go motorcycle touring, but also used it backpacking in summer and winter. It sets up fast, but b/c it's not free standing you will have a hard time using it on rocky ground or compacted soil, but that's also why it is light...less poles. Good space inside for me, some clothes, food, and basic overnight necessities but you're not going to put your pack inside without feeling cramped. The long length allows you to put a lot of the gear at the foot of your bag. Good sized vestibule can hold my 5500 cu in pack on its side partially unpacked and boots and keep them dry in a med 2hr steady rain, also held up well in a light snow. I like that there is a door on either side, can really help to get a cross breeze, but have had 2 occasions where condensation was a problem, but maybe altering ventialtiohn could have remedied that. I use it w/out a footprint and floor has stayed dry and no tears so far. I've never tried to cook inside it and would think it might feel a a bit cramped for doing that. Buy it w/REI[$] off coupon and you get a fab deal!

Primary use of this tent was for motorcycle trips. I have tested over 4 different tents and this one is perfect if you are concern about space and weight. I recommend this tent for anyone who is planning to take motorcycle trips.

Comments about Alps Mountaineering Comet 1.5 Tent - Special Buy:
The cool thing about this tent is that it is vented all the way around so if you don't have the rainfly on its almost like sleeping completely outside, without being bit by mosquitoes. It is big enough for two people and plenty of room at your feet or on your sides. The rainfly stretches enough to the sides of your tent so that you can leave your boots under it and not worry about them getting wet with dew. Its very easy to set up and the poles just click together on their own. I haven't used it in wet weather, so I am not sure how it would do if the rain is really coming down. This is a great price also, especially when your on a budget.

Comments about Alps Mountaineering Comet 1.5 Tent - Special Buy:
Owned this tent for about 4 months now, been on several 2-4 night solo backpacking trips. I LOVE it. easy set-up, more room than you'd expect. I'm 6', 185 and i have no problems getting me, my 4000cc pack, and gear inside. You might be able to get a 2nd person in if you use the 'vestibule' of the rainfly for your gear, but it'd definitely be cozy.
Just remember that it is NOT free-standing, but i havent had any problems so far. New England soil tends to be usually just fine for that stuff!
Looking for a solo tent- cheap, lightweight, easy put up and take down? Get this before they run out!

Not free standing but I have used it in sand and it still did fine. More room than you would expect. Great tent for the weight and the money. Buy it while you can.
