Comments about Kelty Red Cloud 5000 Pack - Women's:
I have proven to be a hard fit and after going through 6 different packs ending in migraines and severe rubbs I was just about to give up. I am glad and relieved to say that this pack is amazing! No matter how you pack it it remains balanced. I just came back from a week long trip in New Hampshire's Pemi Wilderness and carried 43lbs with this pack like it was nothing! AND there was still plenty of room in this pack for more things (which can be a down fall, the more room you have the more you fill right)It is HIGHLY adjustable which has proven to be an asset for me.It comes with a very informative detailed booklet on fitting and adjusting that I think would be beneficial if all brands gave with their packs. It is very durable, has ample pockets. Despite that fact that it does not have a back panel like Osprey I did not find sweating to be a issue. The actual material it is made out of is very efficent at absorbing and evaporating heat and sweat. This is a excellant pack esp. for the price!

Comments about Kelty Red Cloud 5000 Pack - Women's:
I used this pack this summer on a trail crew in Lincoln National Forest in New Mexico. We had to haul in all our water and this thing held up carrying 28 liters or so worth of water plus tools, a few days of food and my bag, pad, and bivy on a seven mile hike in with maybe three thousand feet of elevation change, which we had to do a couple of times.
I am telling you this not to brag (I cried at one point) but because everyone else on the crew had aching lower backs and nasty oozing welts all over their hips from the weight, except for me and another guy - also with a Kelty pack.
I have an Osprey Talon I use normally since 5000 cu is a little big for my needs, but Kelty hands down makes the best hipbelts in my experience. You can really load this thing up and be (reasonably) comfortable. A seventy-five pound backpack always sucks, but if you have to carry one, this pack is a good option.
My only complaint is inadequate compression ability. Mine is a couple years old and showing no real damage yet. It looks like they've added some bells and whistles since.
If you're going lightweight and on shorter trips you could probably do better, but if you need something on the burly side this is a good choice.
