Comments about Minoura Bottle Cage Holder BH-95X:
Very difficult to mount and will not hold a full bottle without sliding down!
Get the Minoura Bottle Cage Holder BH-60, Item #779719 instead, it works MUCH better!

Comments about Minoura Bottle Cage Holder BH-95X:
It is rare that you encounter a product so poorly executed. Mounting this requires exceptional luck and at least three hands. Do not buy this thinking it will be an easy 5 minute mount, then off for your ride with a new bottle mount in a convenient location. It requires pinching a sleeve, aligning two holes, then (without any visibility) sliding a bolt through a piece of plastic hoping that it will align through two holes in the sleeve that you're squeezing. I count at least three (very small) hands needed to make this work. If you have child like dexterity, and sage like patience, then this is the product for you. After scratching my bars for 20 minutes, I officially declared it impossible to mount. I'm a trained bike mechanic, so take that also FWIW...

Before I upgraded to my current road bike, I was riding a steel frame made in the 80's that had no holes drilled for a cage...well if you are into a dancing water bottle that slides to the right, slides to the left, slides up and down then this product is for you. My legs would brush it and move it constantly which was annoying.
If you are just riding for a light jaunt or for leisure then this product would be good but I would throw down some grip tape before you mount it to the frame to prevent it from shifting position.

The reviewers are correct. Whoever designed this thing is an idiot, certainly not the same guy who designed the Prius! If you decide to use the plastic strip to spare your paint job, you will find yourself tugging at the perforated metal strip to make one of the holes match with the nut. This jams the nut down into the stem/frame, so when you try and attach the fixture according to the instructions, the mounting screw is too short and will not engage. I was in the process of hack-sawing the flat washer off the screw (not SAE threads, btw)when the screw flew across the garage. That's when I tossed the whole thing into the garbage can ... not even recyclable! REI has NO business carrying junk like this. Don't they read their reviews!? It lowers my opinion of REI greatly. Don't waste your money on this one.

Comments about Minoura Bottle Cage Holder BH-95X:
I don't know how it performs, only because I never could get it to mount to the bike. With plastic mounting piece off and the screw in place the screw was shorter than the mounting piece which explains why I could never get the screw to thread when the whole thing was together. One of the most frustrating DIY jobs I've ever attempted.
Not only would I not recommend this to a friend, I wouldn't wish it on an enemy.

I had a difficult time installing this, and it worked for a while. but It kept getting loose and eventually fell off. Going through the difficulty of installation again and again is too much so I have replaced it.

Comments about Minoura Bottle Cage Holder BH-95X:
Worst bike product at REI. The clamp is frustrating, near impossible to install, the primary screw that bolts the unit to the metal ring is just not long enough to reach and thread on the first try... or even on the 10th try. battling with this thing was maddening. I work on my own bikes, i've installed all kinds of accessories on my bike, and a simple cage mount like this shouldn't be so difficult to manipulate. REI shouldn't carry Minoura accesories, just because they are made in japan does not make them superior. Why not carry the Topeak cage mount if REI carries so many other Topeak products? I returned these (for two bikes), ordered a couple Topeak mounts from[...]and installed each on my bikes smoothly on the first try. The Topeak design is similar, but superior, longer bolt designed to reach and thread into the metal loop effortlessly. Ive been and REI member for years and shop regularly, and this was the first time I walked up to the returns counter and said "these are junk, don't you dare try to sell these to someone else."

Comments about Minoura Bottle Cage Holder BH-95X:
Got this to mount my daughters water bottle to the handlebars. It would not get tight enough to keep from slipping. Once I added a rubber washer to stop that it broke while tightening. Poor quality and a waste of money.
