Comments about The North Face Primero 70 Pack:
I took this pack out for the first time over Memorial Day weekend in the Kings Canyon region of the Sequioa National park. It was a 4 day trip in the snow and the pack weighed a little over 30 pounds. It held all of the gear well with room to spare.
The oversized hip belts were comfortable but the shoulder straps are a little undersized and led to slight soreness. The foam padding on the back was a little weird at first, but after wearing the pack for a short time it either moulded to my back or I forgot about it. No complaints with the system and it did breathe very well. The weight distribution was very balanced even with a loaded pack that towered over my head. The X-radial suspension system does work very well and this pack handled well while bushwhacking, climbing, and running. It fits and moves with the body very well.
The finish on the exterior of the pack is very durable and also waterproof. In both the rain and snow all materials inside stayed dry. The exterior has plenty of lash points for extra or quickly accessed gear. The expandable pocket on the exterior held a beanie, rain jacket, and balaclava. Can't say enough about how great that pocket is. And having a pack with a hydration sleeve inside is great. This one seems to be built for Camelback, which I have, so it clipped in perfectly.
The only thing that bothered me about this pack, and it is a minor complaint, is that the chest strap does not stay in place. It is adjustable but the strap slides and does not lock in place. An additional exterior pocket would be nice as well, although access via side zipper to the main compartment works fine.

Comments about The North Face Primero 70 Pack:
This backpack is great. It maximizes space by removing extra pockets throught the main compartment. It is somewhat strechable, which allows for the most space efficiency inside.
It is also waterproof, which really helps through wet weather and will keep all of your gear inside dry.
"Cup Holders" must be streched out in order to place anything in them, but generally do a great job of keeping bottles in place.
This bag is recommended for hikers looking for a solid bag in the "1 - 4 days of hiking" range.

Comments about The North Face Primero 70 Pack:
This is a great pack that balances a heavy load well. The breathable back didn't bother me at all and keep my back much cooler than other packs. The flexible side pockets are great as is the hip pocket. The weather proofing is great and the pack appears very durable from the times I've taken it out.
I've loaded this pack and always found it very comfortable from top to bottom. Plenty of straps to tie to and access points on the top, bottom and side. Overall a great pack that holds the weight well with this new flexible frame system.

Comments about The North Face Primero 70 Pack:
Nice looking pack. I especially like the waterproof features. The "Durable injection-molded EVA foam backpanel that promotes breathability" actually caused upper back discomfort after wearing for just a few minutes. I returned it :(

Comments about The North Face Primero 70 Pack:
There is no substitute for a full, plush, well thought-out suspension. This pack is very comfortable over uneven terrian. It is tough as nails and waterproof as well. It is a little big and heavy for a weekend pack (I pack pretty light). Recently took this pack on a 28 mile 4 pass hike. Carried 30-35 lbs in comfort. The pack has just enough features and pockets to be usable, the stretchy pocket in the back could be a little bigger to fit a bladder or a wet tent.
