I use this PFD for kayak touring, but I have not used it for fishing. The pockets are very convenient. The straps cinch it down well, and it is out of the way of the spray skirt and is very comfortable during the paddle stroke. I've swam in it, and it did not ride up. I think this PFD is great.

I use this PFD as required when fishing from my Watermaster raft, and feel comfortable doing so. The pockets are sufficient for essential fly fishing bits, and I'd say they could be larger to accommodate a normal fly-box, but I think if there were a fly box in the pockets, it would foul the oars on the Watermaster.
Some of the rivers we wade, such as the Deschutes, can be treacherous with slime-covered boulders, swift currents and my own clumsiness. Many of us have gone for impromptu swims, and some have died. I sometimes use this PFD instead of my normal fishing vest (and don't you dare laugh; I'm an old Navy diver and excellent swimmer, but unwarranted risk is silly).
The only improvement I'd suggest, is to study the best fishing vests and improve the pockets.
